I have an Access 2007 database issue. I need to add the values from the laboratory results for two chemical compounds: m, p-Xylenes and o-Xylenes (example: 2.5 ug/L and 3.2 ug/L, respectively), then create a new row or record called "Total Xylenes" (result would be 5.7 ug/L). My problem is I have 20 rows (10 each of m, p-Xylenes and o-Xylenes) of data to combine into 10 rows ("Total Xylenes"). I need to be able to do this in either Access or Excel. Not sure how to write an expression or SQL statement in a query to look for the two Xylene results, add them together, and insert them into a new record called "Total Xylenes". The number of records to run this on changes so an EOF function would be helpful, but not necessary.
My head hurts from trying to see if union, inner join, macro, or any other query will do what I want.
Thanks
Russell
