Im installing Sharepoint Portal Server 2003 for the first time ever. Ive never worked with this before and im not too familiar with Database software. Im having trouble configuring it to point to my SQL server DB. It is asking me to specify the name of the SQL machine, but then it comes up with an unexpected error. Also when im configuring the email server settings, it is saying im using an invalid email address, when it should be perfectly valid. Can anyone help me? This is kind of important.
I figured this out myself. For reference, the problem was that i had installed sharepoint 2003 on a machine running sql 2005 and it wouldnt go through. i updated to service pack 2 for sharepoint and everything worked fine. the email address problem was because i had to create an account in exchange and use that one so it can go through the domain. i have another question i will post.
