Comment:

I am trying to connect to a SQL database and it returns the following error when I want to connect SQL Server through the System DSN in Control Panel - Administrative tools - ODBC:

Connection failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 11001
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionOpen (Connect())
Connection failed:
SQLState: '08001'
SQL Server Error: 6
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]Specified SQL server not found.

This pc has the same configuration and the same version of the ODBC drivers as others in my network (2004.85.1117.00 SQLSRV32.DLL). I am using WinXP Pro with SP2. It doesn't matter how I set NETWORK LIBRARIES or CONNECTION PARAMETERS I receive this error (TCP/IP - IPX - etc etc) in the ODBC Drivers. I have already tried to reinstall ODBC Drivers, MDAC, but to no avail. It doesn't matter which way I connect through the authentication of Windows login or authentication to the SQL Server using login and password with ID's we have in the SQL Server. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Thank in advance.

Thanks for your response.

followed guidance but to no avail. Under that registry key (SuperSocketNetLib) there is only another key named "LastConnect" with no string or keys inside. In the path HKLM/Software/Microsoft/MSSQLServer/MSSQLServer/SuperSocketNetLib/Tcp/TcpDynamicPorts are missing the last two keys (Tcp/TcpDynamicPorts).

Any other way to solve this??

Thanks in advance.

I am using win 2000 server and when i want to configure the dsn in the list box the the choice of sql server is not available. It doesn't matter which way I connect through the authentication of Windows login or authentication to the SQL Server using login and password with ID's we have in the SQL Server. PLEASE HELP!!!!!
