Printing databases

I'm getting some kind of conflict when trying to print to 8.5"x22" paper - I can't preview the document correctly, and it won't print correctly. I have tried every combination of page setup/printer setup I can think of - as far as I can tell, the page sets things up one way, the printer another, then they try to override each other, and keep changing my settings! Everything works fine at 8.5x11 or 8.5x14, but as soon as I try to go to 8.5x17 or 8.5x22, everything goes out the window. I'm creating my database with MS works 8.0, and I've tried two different printers, and updated the printer drivers. Help!

Are you trying to print in landscape orientation? You paper size(s) are not standard. Some printers may not be able to handle those dimensions and the printer driver may not handle it. Have you tried writing to an ASCII text file and printing in another application.
