I created a database from data I inherited from another person. The data has three tables ' Mother, Child, Follow up Child data. The data on follow up is updated each month up to 24 months. The data on the child ( ID, age, DOB, Name etc is only entered once). I created the follow up child data as a subform in child form. Now when Ie open the database after having made several entries, the database does not make previous entries available (it says record 1 of 1, and Icannot scroll back). However, the auto ID assigned does progress. In other words, the database recognizes that there are previous entries with auto IDs but does not let us access those. In the section to enter the monthly follow up data, when I enter information for the second visit, it assigns a new auto ID number. For example, if the child is auto ID 2, the auto ID for the first visit is 2 but changes at the next visit.
The problem may be that I assigned autonumber as ID because the IDs on the data I have were not in number type. They are like : 124XV3. can anyone help. I also need to know if you can create a relationship between an auto number and a TEXT type variable or between two TEXT type variables in tables. I am sorry for any inconvenience.
I need someone to help fix the problem.
