Solved MySQL does not run through services nor through the console

March 11, 2015 at 02:06:39
Specs: Windows 7, 4
While trying to run MySQL 5.1.43 through the console i get the following error:

cant connect to local mysql server throught socket /var/run/mysqld/mysql.d.sock
/etc/init.d/mysql start
Starting MySQL database server: mysqld failed!
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/mysql-server restart
mysql not running? (check /var/db/mysql/
Starting mysql.

I have read some articles about the similar issues, but understood not much about it as well as about how to fix such errors. Unfortunately, my professional skills are far from IT. All what have i tried is restarting: /etc/init.d/mysqld restart and i really do not know what else should i do. I hope here anybody would be able to help me in the matter.

Check free disk space:
df –h # general info
du –hs /* #specific folders

If there is no room, delete unnecessary files.
A common situation is when the logs are growing and disk space is not available, MySQL can not work properly (true for all other services - apache, exim, etc.)

restart MySQL again:
/etc/init.d/mysqld restart
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/mysql-server restart

If the cause of your problem is not shortage of a free space, then in the log should appear an error depending of the problem. Errors can be various. What happens next depends on the specific error and require detailed investigation. So, check it and write about the result.
