Hi,

I have a MS-Access 2003 database. I modified the properties of one of the tables(added name description). After that, the reports using this table started throwing out an error and the database crashes. This problem exists only on my machine (Windows XP-SP3). When I copy the database to my colleagues machine (which is Windows XP-SP2) and run the report, it works fine.

Can anybody tell me if you have encountered the problem and what is the fix to this.

Thanks,
Anil

Have you checked to see if XP SP3 has some known errors?
What exactly do you mean by added name description?

Hi,

What I mean by added name description is, I right clicked on the table name and in the box for "Descripton", I entered the nature of the table. After that, it started crashing whenever I ran the form which was using that table.

I couldn't find any XP SP3 errors related to this.

Thanks,
Anil

If you remove the "Description", does the error go away?

I see some others have had strange errors after XP SP3.

The problem persists even if I remove "Description". Thanks for the suggested link. Even we figured out it is SP3 problem and has no fix. We had to work through the backup database.

Thanks,
Anil

Hi,

Perhaps your mdb file is damaged or something. You may try Advanced Access Repair at http://www.datanumen.com/aar/ This tool is rather useful in salvaging damaged Access MDB files.
