I need to have interactive reporting system, i tried to use crystal reports but the system can not give me interactive reports. when you need another report we have to generate a new one. i developed a kind of a cube in excel that is very good so far, but the only problem is that i need to copy paste the data in the excel sheet, group it, and he does the rest. Is there a way to link the excel sheet to the database and make it learn how import each field in a specified cell and to auto-refresh each time the data changes ?

This changed a bit with Excel 2007

Create and ODBC datasource that points to the database you
want to use.

Click on your spreadsheet where you want your dynamic data to start and click
Data => From Other sources => From MS Query

Choose your datasource in the next screen.
Choose whether or not you want MS Query to help you.

After you select your data and click OK, the spreadsheet will be propagated with the results of the query. You will be given an option to refresh this whenever you open the spreadsheet.
