Hi everyone. I end up here, knowing nothing about databases. And I would like your help before doing something stupid.
I want to use Wordpress to develop a website. Wordpress requires the installation of a MySQL databse. But we have already a MySQL database installed (not by me. And I am not sure what it is used for). Anyway, I have the access codes to the existing database. I am simply not sure whether I can use it for Wordpress, too. Is there a risk of overwriting existing files in MySQL (files needed for something else)?

Thank you for your help.

Depending on what the MySQL database is used for there could be serious consequences from overwriting them. You need to contact whoever is managing the MySQL database or determine what the situation is.
