Hi

I have a reference table created from global adress list in outlook it has alias in it. I have created a table and want user to input alias and it automatically fill in data for surname and Forename.

Is this posible I do not want to link my tables to the address list as there is data that will not be used

Thankyou

Where are the names stored? Do you want the user to enter the data into a field, or into a form based on a query?

The names are stored in another table just a reference one. I want the user to input a number in one field then the surname and forename appear automatically in the fields in the tables. I have done no forms or queries yet.

Proper database structure is to store data in one table only. Why do you want the data duplicated? Redundancy is not really good database design.

What exactly are you going to do with the database?

I would not really call it redundancy as its not linked to the database. I do not want to link it because there are names that are not going to be used in the database.

What isn't linked to the database? Perhaps you could be a little more clear exactly what you're using the database for, and what the ultimate goal is.
