Comment: Hi I've just built a system and my xp2600 cpu crashes at 166mhz at which speed it is supposed to run at. It runs fine at 160mhz although it runs hot 63c. Is there any settings I can change in the bios to fix this. Is this normal that my cpu won't run at stated mhz. And is 63c to hot. I've got 3 case fans And an amd xp cooler. Thanks for help

Reply: (edit)63c could well be the problem. Turn up the a/c and also open the case and blow a strong house fan into the case and you'll get lower temps and be able to see if temp is the problem. The other problem could be the motherboard or memory. If the board is forcing the memory to run at 166 along with the cpu, that could be the problem. Or the mobo itself might be unstable at 166. A lot of via chipset mobos are weak when it comes to running at higher fsbs. But my first suspicion is your temps.
