I've been thinking of getting a 3200+ for a while now, and as the price is now fairly reasonable I was just gonna get one when I read some articles and reviews about memory speed once again. I have 1GB PC2700 (333MHz) memory and can't afford to replace it with PC3200 at the moment, but I'd still like to get a 3200+ as I think its worth the little extra over the 3000+
I have the Gigabyte GA-7N400Pro2 board which has a dual channel memory interface, so I always thought this would get around the memory problem as in theory it delivers 5400 MB/sec of bandwidth, more than enough to satisfy the 3200 MB/sec of the 400Mhz FSB on the 3200+
Basically, can someone confirm to me that this is correct and my system performance won't be affected by running PC2700 memory with a 400Mhz FSB?

There's really no point to getting a 3200+ when a 2500+ will easily overclock to 3200+ speed. Better yet, get a mobile Barton & you'll have all sorts of clocking/overclocking options.
Your PC2700 will probably be a problem...it's designed to run at 166mhz (DDR333) but you *may" be able to overclock it to 200mhz (DDR400). If not, you'd have to settle on something in between...that's where a mobile Barton would come into play.
Bare with me a minute...
Desktop 3200+ runs at 2200mhz (11 x 200mhz), but the multiplier is locked. The 2500+ mobile is capable of 2200mhz (& beyond) & has an unlocked multiplier. If your PC2700 maxes out at say, 180mhz, & you have the desktop Barton, it's speed would only be 1980mhz (11 x 180). But if you combined the mobile Barton with PC2700 at 180mhz, you could still clock up the CPU to 3200+ speed using the multiplier (say 12.5 x 180 = 2250mhz).
In other words, if you wanna keep the PC2700, getting the mobile Barton would be the best way to go
