Hi,
I recently purchesed a barebone kit from tigerdirect.com containing and AMD 2600+ processor. When I checked the site I see that the processor's speed is 1.9 Ghz. When I recieved the product I checked the packaging to make sure that I recieved the correct processor and it said I did. But when I put the computer together and checked the processor speed under controll panel => system it said it was an amd processor but the speed was only 1.15 Ghz? I was wondering to as whether this number (1.15) is the speed at which it was currently performing, or if this is the max speed, in which case I have to get the correct one.
Thank you

Athlon XP 2600+ Model 10 1917Mhz 333Mhz Barton
Athlon XP 2600+ Model 8 2083Mhz 333Mhz Thoroughbred-B
Athlon XP 2600+ Model 8 2133Mhz 266Mhz Thoroughbred-B

These are the 3 2600+ AMD's and you have the one on top. If you divide 1917 by 166 you find the multiplier = 11.5
100 x 11.5=1150 meaning your fsb (front side bus) is set at 100Mhz and should be set at 166Mhz. You will change the fsb either in bios or with a jumper on the motherboard. Read the manual that came with the motherboard...it'll tell you how.

Why did it pop up this way? Board manufacturers do this to insure the board will work with any AMD processor.
