To all:

I just finished building my com and my Athlon XP 2100 only shows as an XP 1500. In the BIOS it shows up running at 100 mhz and if you raise it to 133 (as it should be) or set the mb to run in "aggressive" settings it crashes. Specifically, the com will boot to windows, run for 5 min or until you run an application, the powers off. Help!!!

System= O/S: Windows XP w/ Sp 1
MB: Asus A7N8X deluxe
RAM: 1Gb
VID: Gainward Ti 4800se

Please Advise. Thank You.

David,
I had the same problem with my 2400+ registering as an 1800+. How I fixed mine is go into bios and change the CPU FSB from 100 Mhz to 133 Mhz.

It worked for me!!

I agree it sounds like RAM, but there is one more possibility and that is what type of power supply do you have.....with the cpu and the RAM plus the ti gpu that would suck alot of power. most people would tell you 300+ but I would go with 400+ or even a 350 minimum....just a thought.
