Both XP 1800 CPU's.What are the eXact differences besides one running cooler than the other? Does the T-bred B. offer any performance Over the Polomino such as clockability etc?

palimino is a different core and runs at a lower voltage, 1.60 versus 1.75 if i am not mistaken. overclockability comes from the chip and all the other components ie memory, mainboard, etc and if all are top quality. cheap stuff give terrible results

The Thoroughbred Bs are better Overclockers. At stock speeds though, the difference between a T-bred and a Palomino are entirely negligible.

I believe Charles has the voltages reversed...the Palomino (model 6) runs at 1.75v & the T-bred (model 8) at either 1.5 or 1.6v. Check your motherboard specs or go to the manufacturers website before getting a T-bred...depending on what motherboard you have, it may not be supported.

Palomino's run at a higher voltage than t-bred's (1.75v vs. 1.5v-1.65v). T-bred's are better overclockers, plus the multiplier is not locked, unlike the Palomino. T-bred's will generally run 5C or more cooler than a Palomino.

The palomino was made with a 0.18 micron manufacturing process. Its transistors require more wattage to get them to go quickly from 0 to 1, which is why it has a higher vcore and is hotter than the tbred. The chip itself has 7 layers.

The tbred A was made with a 0.13 micron process. Its transistors are slightly more sensitive to power, and so require only 1.65v of vcore. The chip itself has 8 layers.

The tbred B is made with a 0.13 micron process. Its transistors are even more sensitive to power, and so require only 1.5v of vcore. The chip itself has 9 layers.

The tbred b is a superb overclocker compared to a palomino, both in terms of how fast it can go at stock vcore, and in terms of how little heat it produces when overvolted.

Note: Some 1800+ tbred B's are set at 1.6v vcore. They do not oc as well as the 1.5v models.
