Hey everyone,
I installed 2x512 PC3200 Kingston Hyper-x DUAL Channel chips in my Gigabyte mobo and when I run Everest to check out the RAM speeds, it's coming up as PC1600! I ran CPU-Z to check the chips, its reading 2 chips so I know the mobo is rwading them. It also says in Control Panel -> System I have a gig of RAM too. I RAN another tool and it's telling me my RAM is running at 100Mhz! And I know the RAM should be running at 200Mhz, which also explains why its coming up as PC1600 and not PC3200. I checked my Award BIOS and theres no way to change the speed of the RAM, only the voltage... Can anyone tell me what do to?! Any help is much appreciated. It appears you have something set incorrectly in the BIOS.
Also, I see you have 1.5GB of RAM listed...you can't run dual channel with 3 x 512MB
ASUS A7N8X-X
Athlon XP 1800+
8.5 x 200MHz
1024MB PC3200 2.5-3-3-7
Asus A9550GE/TD 128MB
WinME/WinXP Pro SP1

Sorry, I was posting for a friend... my specs are different. But the case remains the same for my friend.... I'll triple check the BIOS settings but I don't think there's anyway to change the RAM Speed... Any other help would be much appreciated... thanks

I have the ASUS K8N-E Deluxe(The best board in its class) Wit an AMD Athlon64 2800+ !!! I have Transcend 512 MB DDR 400 3.0-3-3-3-8 My ram speed shows 200mhz !!! i cross checked in the board manual they say to manually chnag it in the bios so i did so and changed it from 200mhz to 400mhz but no change wats the problem ???
Thanx in advance !!!!!

With dual channel the ram speed may not need to be at maximum. It depends on the bandwidth of the processor.
For example, if you have a 64-bit mainboard with dual channel, put a single 512K 400Mhz DDR RAM module in one channel an dboot up, the BIOS will show it as single channel 400MHz 64 bit.
If you put two such identical modules in different channels, say, with an AMD XP64 3000 processor, the BIOS may show 333MHz Dual Channel 128 bit.
That's because between them the modules using two channels provide more memory bandwidth than the processor can use.
There is nothing wrong, they system has adjusted the memory speed to suit the processor. It doesn't need to go at full "revs" to do the job.
Check the facts for your setup it may be functioning correctly.
