From the box the CPU says that it is a 2.0 GHz CPU. I have a DFI - NFII 400-AL Motherboard. When I started everything up I noticed on the startup screen the CPU speed was at 1.67 GHz, it was supposed to be 2.0 Ghz. Long ago when I first got the computer the same thing happend but a friend of mine fixed it. He never told me how to do it. It has happened again. Does anyone know what the problem is?

How about telling us what it says on the CPU box?

Hopefully you're not confusing the model number with the CPU speed. An Athlon XP 2000+ does not run at 2.0GHz, it runs at 1.67GHz.

uh, yea...2200+ runs at 1.8GHz, but how do you make it run at 1.67GHz without changing both the FSB & the multiplier too?

The only other possibility is he has either a 2600+ (Tbred) or 2800+ (Barton)...both run at 2.08GHz & have the 12.5x multiplier. If the FSB is set wrong (133 instead of 166), they would run at 1.67GHz.

My guess is still 2000+ & he's confusing model number & clock speed

Jam. Yep! The 2000 XP runs at 1667 Mhz..

That is what they have. I'd bet on it.

Good guess!
