Hello all,

Ussually I'm a trial-and-error-man but this problem I really can't solve.

When I boot my XP it's fine until I sign in with my user/pw. It loads windows and then just freezes, I can press cntrl+alt+del once to get into the taskmngr but when I esc that It just freezes up again and I can't get into it again.
I _can_ boot in VGA mode, everything is fine but I can't do the stuff I want to do in windows of course :P

Ok - So that's the problem, these are the things I tried.

-Removing the drivers and cleaning them with a driver cleaner and reinstalling different versions of drivers.
-Tried putting my RAM in different slots
-Removing and re-placing my vid card.
-Unplugging a "faulty" HD
-Cleaing the pc! :[

OK! So none of these things worked, I ask you.. Does anyone have any other idea's?
Thanks in advance

Go into safemode, remove all startup items (msconfig) then restart in normal mode and see what happens at that point.

My sig is on sabbatical.

Ah..
Something that simple .. and still didn't think about it *blush*.

I removed them all and it started good, going to enable them one by one now to see where it dies :x

Thanks for your help.

skip,

Try "last know good configuration"

Run memtest utilities to see what happens. Memtest 86 or any of the others should get this out of the way.

If ya find a bad stick of memory...remove it.

Also check if you heatsink is clogged with dust...could be a simple overheating problem. I doubt that is the problem with your 2.6 though.
