Hi, guys was wondering how well this system would hold up for a few yrs. I got a dell inspiron 1720. i know i got an 8600M GT latest drivers and a Intel X9000 along with 4Gbs ddr2 800Mhz on the way.. Now how well will this stand up for a few yrs?

It depends on what you are using it for. If you are going to use it for gaming, not very long considering the 8600GT isn't going to handle very many modern games well that use a lot of graphical power. But anything beyond using it for gaming it should last a good few years or more.

It depends what you do with your computer. I have heard of people that still use W 95 or 98 and they only do email and the internet. But we are led to believe that we need the latest and greatest even for those two things.
The same for the hardware, one does not a 4 Ghz CPU to do email and the internet.
Just some food for thought.
