Even if I try to change the slots where the card goes, or manually select an IRG to a particular slot, I always have all these devices sharing the same IRQ number. Here is what I copied to a notepad...

IRQ Number Device
3 Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
14 Primary IDE Channel
15 Secondary IDE Channel
11 VIA USB Universal Host Controller
11 VIA USB Universal Host Controller
11 NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400
11 CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device
11 MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device
8 System CMOS/real time clock
13 Numeric data processor
6 Standard floppy disk controller
12 PS/2 Compatible Mouse
1 Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard

Could anyone give me some tips? Thanks a lot

Reinstall your sound card in a PCI slot farthest away from your AGP slot.

Disable “PCI/IRQ Steering”.

You can't change the IRQ's of certain devices in Windows 2000, you have to format and reload Windows.

IRQ sharing is a feature of ACPI. This is
normal and usually never causes problems

Ok, BTW, I reinstalled Windows 2000 twice, and Windows 98 had the same sharing. I am using onboard sound as well. Thanks

Check out this comment on slashdot. Extremely technical discussion from (presumably) one of the developers on Win2k.

It IS ACPI, and it IS okay, but as this guy says, it's really a microsoft hack to work around broken chipsets.
