Hi Lionel, I have the Geforce2 64MB PCI card. It looks good, but the anti-aliasing looks awful. Remember how the sky looked on Super Nintendo games? That's almost how the performance of the Geforce2 is. Well, I am exagerrating a bit, but get a Geforce3 so the graphics will blend smoothly. But remember man, get the RAM first! I tried to install the Geforce2 with 32MB RAM and it took about 15 minutes for Windows to boot up =/ So make sure you have enough RAM for that 200mhz. Cya later! BTW what games do you want to play? Quake III can run 20-35 frames if you configure the options correctly.

In case you're not familar, Kyro II = NEC POWER VR. That's the same thing found in the dreamcast. Of course video game systems are optimized for game play and don't run a bloated OS in the background, games like Soul Calibur would still make today's top PC's struggle a little :)

I have a Dell Optiplex 200mhz Pentium MMX
128MB RAM and Geforce2 MX400 64MB PCI. After all the upgrades, Quake III gets 25 frames at the most, and that is when the room has less then 4 people. With 8-13 people you get about 6 frames per second. I am only buying upgrades now that I can use on another future PC. I will upgrade the HD to 7200, a 54X CD-ROM (I hope it's not too fast) and that's about it for that PC. So you should just get upgrades that are pretty much compatible with everything so you won't waste money.

I plan on building an AMD Duron 1.3 ghz PC. Everything I need for it totals up to $120 dollars. I think that is a great price. So if you can't get the AMD 400mhz CPU you gonna buy working, then I would recommend a better PC :) A lot of people are telling me that the Duron isn't good, but it is sure of a hell a lot better then teh 200mhz! And I know if my 200mhz PC can run Quake, I know a 1.3 would be just fine. But hey Lionel, Quake II runs at 70 frames on my PC! Go figure! Cya Man :)

I just picked up a Duron 850/Chaintech mobo combo for $90 and have been impressed. I haven't touched AMD since the K6-2 and swore I would only stick with Intel - but I had some spare parts lying around and thought I'd see how a low end AMD box would run. With a cheap used Geforce 2 card and 128mb ram, this box runs pretty damn good.

Tip: if you're running a Via chipset board download memoryenable.zip to enable 4way memory interleave. It'll give you a 30% boost.
