Hi everybody!
Just a small question pls!
I've tried to find out, but still can not decide, so pls help me!
Now i have 1 mobo ASUS P4P800SE and two of p4 CPUs 3.0Ghz/800/1M/478pins
and the code are:
+ SL7E4 revision D0
+ SL8JZ revision G1
Intel said that both vcore is 1.25-1.40V
My mobo support both as well but the problem is:
the SL7E4 is run at vcore default at 1.326 and temp idle at 52, full load at 63
The SL8JZ is run at vcore default at 1.400 and temp idle at 48, full load at 60( this can go to 4.2Ghz by OC)

I've tried to run SuperPI mod and both give me the same result
So pls help me to decide which one is best for me? which one is newer? best for OC? where to find the info of these CPUs.
Why the SL7E4 run at lower Vcore but give higher temp?
Any input would be appreciated!

The only reason to explain with the lower default voltage is that the D0 revision have higher amperage than the G1 version resulting higher temperatures. I can't tell you which CPU is better for overclocking but I do not recommand you push the prescott CPU to 4.0ghz on your P4P800SE motherboard. My old Asus P5P800-SE was fried within 1 year due to lack of a heatsink on the voltage regulator module resulting VRM overheat and you can clearly see a brown spot around it... Luckily newegg gave me refund of $75 and I bought a refurbished P5P800 on ebay for $60 + shipping + I/O shield and now its running better than P5P800SE since the VRM has a heatsink on it. I used to have a P4 506 SL8PL G1 revision but then I sold it out to buy back a P4 506 SL8J8 E0 revision.

SL8PL G1 @ 4.0ghz = 1.525v some games not stable idle = 50c load = 65c (stock = 1.4v)
3.8ghz/1.4v everything is stable...

SL8J8 E0 @ 4.0ghz = 1.300v all games/software stable idle = 50c load = 63c (stock = 1.2875v)

Thanks alot for your support TMP-Man
Actually my purpose is looking for a cool&quiet rig and I just need to know how far it can go, how high is the score only!

Agreed! the VRM of these mobo are not so good and I can see that when push the CPU run over 4Ghz the system not stable at all. May be for lower price ASUS seem to forget this point.
But the mobo performance is quite good, isn't it?
