I'm new to this overclocking stuf, i was just wondering what is the most accurate temp reading software, because currently my bios is saying my cpu temp is on 52 on idle, but i use everest and it say my cpu is on 48, i also use pc wizard and dat currently read at 35 degrees , all on idle. i also tried this program called speed fan but it just list the temp as; temp 1, temp2 and temp 3 n so on.

my system is

AMD Athlon XP-A, 2066 MHz (11.5 x 180) 2800+
mobo: ga 7n400-l
graphic: geforce ti 4200

no software is accurate. The signals have to pass through the motherboard, and that affects it.

To get accurate temperatures, you need to attach a thermal probe to whatever you want to monitor, and then have a lcd readout (ie: a lcd panel in a drive bay or on the case)

Or, at least use the thermal probe so you can compare the results with the software, so you know by how much it's off (it could be up to 10-20C off).

sometimes the reading are wrong because sensors use different measurement system
basically one of the best temp monitoring programs is MBM (Motheboard monitor) you can specify special ports for all temperature readings and it has list of preset stuff for most of the motherboards.
http://mbm.livewiredev.com/
but as prev. post said - if your MB reads incorrectly it will be incorrect but you can always use software part to convert incorrect temperature to correct ones.
usially you have to setup some arifmetic operation in settings for CPU temp sensor
as long as you can read what it said on the computer and mesure the actual CPU temperature by phisically attaching some thermometer to CPU

also try update MB BIOS.

have no idea why i came to this planet
