Reply: (edit)Athlon 64 3500+ will out perform 3.4Ghz 550 processor in most games. But Intel runs best with video and other multimedia applications. Intels hyper threading give it the edge in software such as Premiere pro, Sony Vegas, 3D Rendering or any type of rendering for that matter. Intel is the king of rendering but athlon 64 has the edge in the gaming unless you get a intel 4Ghz+. The old athlons struggle with games compared to intel. The 64 bit architecture of the Athlon 64 producers faster gaming. Athlon 64's are also good for other office applications such as Word, Web Browsing, Website designers and those soughts of things. (the things only a benchmarking program can tell the diffrence between). CPU: Pentium 4 550 3.4Ghz LGA775 yet to be overclocked Motherboard: Asus P5AD2 Deluxe RAM: 2x512MB Kingston PC4200 533Mhz DDR2 Video Card: Gigabyte X800XT PE HardDisk: 200GB 7200RPM Wester

Reply: (edit)"The old athlons struggle with games compared to intel. The 64 bit architecture of the Athlon 64 producers faster gaming." Hmmmm...how did you reach that conclusion??? Considering most people are still using a 32bit OS. "Athlon 64's are also good for other office applications such as Word, Web Browsing, Website designers and those soughts of things." Funny how you can still do those things reasonably well on a P200

Reply: (edit)@aimdude33 Whatever you purchase I'm sure you will be happy. I'm still using a Athlon 2500+ and a Ti4200 gfx card and there isn't anything I can't do. Unlike a few years ago, you can now purchase a moderatly priced machine and still get excellent performance without breaking the bank. Ultimately, anything you buy today, will be worth next to nothing in 6 months time and I believe that is something everybody should consider when purchasing a new PC.
