Every time I reboot my computer, it turns off for 5 seconds, becuase I overclocked my Q6600 from 2.4 to 3.0 GHz. Is it because my CPU is over heating? If that is the case, what CPU fans are good for purchese?

"Every time I reboot my computer, it turns off for 5 seconds"

Then what happens? Does it stay off & does it get caught in a loop?

"I overclocked my Q6600 from 2.4 to 3.0 GHz"

Are you an experienced overclocker? you apparently raised the CPU freq from 266MHz to 333MHz...what did you do to the RAM settings?

"Is it because my CPU is over heating?"

Post the CPU temp & someone will let you know.

"If that is the case, what CPU fans are good for purchese?"

If it is the case, maybe you don't have your current HSF installed correctly.

Jam,

When it stays off for 5 seconds, then it turns on again and it runs all fine. I am using a normal CPU fan and I feel that I may need to upgrade to a larger CPU fan. The temperature shows on my case is around 100-120 Degrees Farenheit. My Overclocking for my memory, fsb, pci-e, etc. is all fine.

So approx 38-49C. If you feel that's too warm, try removing/reapplying the thermal paste. Here's the instructions:

"Overclocking for my memory, fsb, pci-e, etc. is all fine."

So memory is running in sync at 333MHz (DDR667), CPU at 333MHz (1333MHz FSB), PCI-e at 100MHz, etc?

Are you sure it's the PC & not the monitor? What power supply & video card are your running?

Jam,

You asked some good questions.

"So memory is running in sync at 333MHz (DDR667), CPU at 333MHz (1333MHz FSB), PCI-e at 100MHz, etc?"

Everything you said here is correct. I have PC6400 memory, my PCI-E video card is locked to 100 MHz.

Everything about the computer runs fine and perfect, its only when it shuts off for 5 seconds and the heat is what concerns me.

My video card is ATI x1300 and I heard it is a bad graphics card, should I change the graphics card?
