The Volcano 9 is a good choice. Price is right for the preformance you get.

It's a decent cooler for a decent price. I like the Vantec Aeroflow myself, it's quieter than the high-rpm mode of the Volcano 9 but cools better.

very loud that volcano9
and from the temps I'm reading about on websites and forums, its not all that good really.

SLK-800 is an acclaimed choice. SLK-900 if you are compatable with its limited list of motherboards.

little bit of Artic Silver 3 never done nobuddy harm :D

The Galazy Monster is an adequate cooler with exceptional quietness and costs $8.50 from openlinx.com

Tom's recently reviewed 34 coolers for the XP:

Blow the volc 9 the volcano 11 is yes a little on the loud side but lets face it what do you want to cool you cpu down or put it to sleep!

Second best thing is that the probe with the volcano 11 sits under the cpu What does that mean you may ask....you will not get a more accurate temp than with the volcano 11 price is about $59.00 here in Australia
