I had a volcano 7 A1124 and I put the smart case fan 2 on it and it seemed to cool really good... Well, I thought I could bring the CPU temp down a couple of C's more if I reapplied some arctic silver 3, since the first application was done fast and sloppy... Well, I bent the 1 lug lug clip on the heatsink... So now it doesn't stay seated on the CPU tight enough... I tried to bend it back but think I just made it worse... Anyway, I just got a volcano 9 A1365 and even with the smart fan 2 on high, the temps are a few degrees higher than they were when I had the volcano 7 mod on there... Finally my question is, could I take the 3 lug clip off the volcano 9 and use it on the volcano 7? The copper base insert on the volcano 7 seems bigger around than the one on the volcano 9... What do you think....

I'm prety sure the heatsink for the Volcano 7 and V9 are the same. Only difference is the blue color of the V7 vs. the silver aluminum color of the V9. Also the fans are different. I don't see why you couldn't use the clip from the V9 for the V7. As to the copper insert being larger on the V7, got me there..can anyone else confirm this??
