Where on the net can a guy pickup a AMD Athlon XP 3000 or 3200+ for a reasonable price besides ebay?

Looking for a SKT A processor with barton core and 400 front buss speed.

No it's not my setup just if you look below.

I've been lookin but am having trouble finding them. At least for a reasonable price like under $100 bucks.

Thanks for lookin

Chad

Dangit I may have to look into this! My old 2700 is kinda slow compaired to that board.

Use the same ram and jump from 333/400 to `1600

Still use the ol agp card

Double my L2 cache

Hmmmm

I bet he will like that idea too.

You've got it! Cheaper than a 400FSB Barton & you should be able to use all your old hardware...not to mention it will perform a lot better than any AXP system. Then you'll have the choice of either selling your AXP/board combo & recouping a few bucks, or keeping it & building a backup machine

Well jam you always seem to give good advice so I figure i'll give it a try.

Ordered 2, one for him and one for myself.

I ended up getting two retail box 3200+ cpus @ $62 ea.

Not bad for two motherboards & cpu's for $205 shipped.

I recommended the 3000+ CPU for a reason. It's a 90nm Venice core & at just 51W, it runs cool & it's highly overclockable. It also has the latest E6 stepping.

The one(s) you ordered are the older 130nm Newcastle core. They're 89W CPUs so they run hotter & don't overclock as well. And they use the older CG stepping.

Oh well too late now. I doubt either of us will overclock but running cooler would have been nice. Guess i'll just throw in another case fan lol.

When you posted it's a Venice I didn't know it made a difference. I just seen the 3200+'s with 512 L2 for retail with hsf for $62.

Not sure what the difference between E6 or CG stepping is anyhow unless it's just the wattage.

As long as it fits in the mobo's and don't give me fits it's at least better then my old 2700 and his temporary 950 athlon.
