I have uprgraded certain aspects of my PC over the years, I have put new memory in, changed the graphics and sound cards before but what I am wanting to know is how do I find out what kind of processor my PCs motherboard will be able to take as I am wanting to upgrade this and am not sure about how to go about it. I ran a program I got off the internet which gave me the following info about the motherboard,

Board: TriGem Computer, Inc. TriGem System Board
Bus Clock: 66 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies LTD Version 1.01 07/05/2000

how do I know if a processor will fit my board?

If you got a ATX mid-tower got buy a AMD board with a Athlon cpu & DDR memory (128mb min.)

it's gona work faster (Much faster) then what you got & be better & also cheeper then upgrading your old P2 or P3 not sure what you got but i guess with 66 mhz is a P2.

Here are three models that your motherboard might be. Is your computer an Emachine, an HP, or something else?

I think you may have a Trigem Anaheim 2 or 2A motherboard. If I am right, you are maxed out at 600. The Anaheim 2 or 2A is a micro ATX (MATX) motherboard. Any increase in speed of processor will have to include a new MATX Motherboard. Sorry.

If your motherboard is a Trigem Cognac you can go up to a 1.1 Ghz Celeron FC-PGA with 128k cache(not FC-PGA2).

If it's a Trigem Anaheim 3 you can use a 1.0 Ghz P3 with a 133 FSB (this would be my recommendation), or a Celeron 1.1 FC-PGA with 128k cache (not FC-PGA2).

Here is a site that lists several models of Trigem boards including possible upgrades:

If your computer is an Emachine just look for the model number, if it is another maker, maybe you can tell by the description or find a nameplate on the board.

Good luck.
