Subject: What is wrong?? Cpu? Overheating?? OS: Microsoft Windows Me CPU/Ram: AMD 1800+ 256MB DDR 184DI
|
Comment: Hi i am in desperate need of help, I built my own pc which is AMD 1800+, 256MB DDR 184DIMM. I did have Another 256 RAM card in it but for some reason it stopped working. I have 2 operating systems on my PC windows ME and XP. My pc seems to lock up on both OS. It does do it when im doing anything particular. Can sometimes crash when i leave it on over night, or sometimes it will restart itself. Ive done RAM checks to see if my current RAM has gone wrong but it passes all tests. The only thing that i can think of would be over heating. So i checked that, the CPU temp read - 55C and the System Read - 45. Are they too high, do i need more fans or something? I only have 2 small ones. The whole house is alway fairly warm. Im also using Audigy sound card and G-force 440MX. Any help would be greatful, thanks guys.

Reply: (edit)something else is causing your computer to lockup. Those temps are fine. It sounds like it could be you are having problems with a driver. Make sure you have the latest updates for all your hardware and maybe software. Also you might want to try and run msconfig and disable some of your startup programs that are running in the background to see if that is causing the problem.
