Is your Sempron a socket A model, S754 or AM2? Try going to the motherboard manufacturer's website & see if you can find the CPU support list.

The S939 Sempron is an OEM CPU & I should have caught the "amberine m". You apparently have an HP or Compaq system.

I highly doubt the board is overclockable but single core S939 A64's are cheap. The 3700+ used to be a really hot commodity a couple of years ago...now you can get one for $36. If you can somehow confirm it's compatible with your board, it might be a worthwhile upgrade:
