I recently bought an AMD k7 1.2 gigahertz processor. I was wondering what the system bus speed of it was. Is it 100mhz or 133mhz. Also there is another switch for setting the clock ratio. Is it 5x , 5.5x , 6x , 6.5x , 7x , 7.5x , 8x , 8.5x , 9x , 9.5x , 10x , 10.5 x , 11x , 11.5x , 12x and 12.5x. Currently the clock ration is set to auto and my system bus speed is set to 100mhz which is also default. Also does anyone know the front side bus speed of an amd duron. Is it 200mhz 0r 266mhz. I bought this processor as an oem and their is no manual with it. Please help.

If you are clocking at 1200MHz with the FSB at 100MHz, you have a FSB 100/200 CPU.
If you clock at 902MHz, you have a FSB 133/266 CPU.
Durons are FSB 100/200.
As far as I know, most Durons, Athlons, and Athlon XPs come from AMD with locked multipliers.

As to the bus and multiplier, that is dependent on how accurate you want the effective speeds to match the CPU speed. The faster the BUS speed the better in the long run and in the end, if you can do this without overclocking then you are all the better for it. At 1.2Ghz with a 100Mhz bus speed that clock multiplier would be 12 (100Mhz x 12.0 = 1.2Ghz). If you wanted the bus speed at 133Mhz then the multiplier would have to be lower (i.e. multiplier=CPUMhz/BusMhz or multiplier=1200Mhz/133Mhz). This equates to a multiplier of ~9 and you will get a SLIGHTLY lower overall CPU speed but your system preformance will be improved overall because of a 33% faster bus speed.
