Comment:
what we mean by Core Duo or Core Solo processor. every one has its own views about it. Some says that in Core duo the L2 cache is split into two parts while in Core solo the L2 cache remains one unit. In some other site i was reading that by core duo processor we mean that processor is divided into two layers working independently. Kindly clear my concept about Solo and Duo Core Thanks
It's the L2 cache that is split, if you ever looked at one of those sites where they show you the processor and the cache etc... you will notice that the there are 2 branches of L2 chace on a dual core vs 1 branch of L2 cache on a single core processor. And that's what makes it seem like there are 2 stacked cores on the dual core processors.
This guy has been posting the same question for a month now...the last one in the hardware forum got yanked. Apparently it's too much trouble for him to use google, wikipedia, or Intel's website.
