i have the same question.

I received my 2600+ today (OEM) and i'm running it with the fan that came with my 1600+.

I'm not taking any chances, i've underclocked it so that the temps do go over 45

So anyways what's a great fan for my 2600+

I have my eye of either a Dragon Orb 3+ or
a Volcano 9 .. - which one of these should i get.

And also remember to recommend one to the guy up top

i go with wither a thermalright or alpha heatsink and for maximum cooling (noise) a Delta fan, check www.coolerguys.com

I would shy away from the Dragon Orb 3. It seems that it is more centred around looking good as opposed to good performance.

I would have to agree with n3985 in the case of the Alpha HSFs. The Volcano 9 is also a good choice, but if you can get a Volcano 7+ for cheaper I would go for it. From the comparisons I have seen, they perform very similarly. Those new Thermalright copper HSFs are monsters, but their performance is top of the line right now. IF you want to fork out the cash for one that is. As for fans, Delta is the way to go if you dont' care about noise. Otherwise, I would try to find a good performing 80mm or 120mm fan and use a duct to make it work on the heat sink.

I have a dragon orb 3 and believe me it works like a champ, but it sound like a goddam hair dryer. I am know running a volcano 6 and am running 7 deg hotter (54c full load).

For the 2100: Get a volcano 6cu+ and you'll be fine. It's quiet, cheap, and keeps the cpu cool.

OEM HSFs are adequate enough unless you're gonna get into major overclocking. Orbs are junk IMO, & many of the others are just plain loud! Newegg.com has many HSFs listed & they also post customer reviews of the products...maybe that will help you make a decision.

I would go with a swiftec mcx 462 I think and a panaflo ultra fan by far the best heat sink out there. Fan is really quite.
