hey folks. at the moment i have an xp athalon 2200+. the only fans i have are the power supply blowing hot air out and the default AMD cpu cooler and no other fan (thas cos UK isnt as hot as usa) aside from always leaving my side panel of the pc open. Well anyway with my generic power supply, I intend to upgrade soon to a sempron 3400. And i'm intent on buying Tagan 480Watt Power Supply. I wanna know of really good cpu coolers, as i want my pc as quiet as a mouse. What you guys reccommend?

The USA is a big place...there are plenty of areas that have climate similar to the UK.

The general recommendation is an intake fan in the lower front & exhaust fan in the upper rear, below the PSU. And the PSU should have dual fans...an intake on the underside & exhaust in the rear.

Why did you choose the Sempron 3400+ & what motherboard are you getting? I realize pricing is different in the UK, but here's a few socket 754 CPU prices to consider:

Sempron64 2800+/1.6GHz/256 L2 -- $75.50
Sempron64 3100+/1.8GHz/256 L2 - $100.00

Athlon64 2800+/1.8GHz/512k L2 - $112.00
Athlon64 3000+/1.8Ghz/1MB L2 -- $116.00 (mobile)

Sempron64 3400+/2.0GHz/256 L2 - $125.00

The S754 system is AMD's budget setup, but since you'll be buying a PSU, CPU & new motherboard anyway, why not get a PSU with a 24-pin main plug & build a S939 system instead of S754? The S939 Athlon64 3000+/1.8GHz/512k L2 (Venice core) sells for about $133.

And when you buy your CPU, buy the retail model & use the stock AMD HSF.

I just recently purchased a radeon x800 GTO card. And I dont have much to spend, I have decided to go for a relatively cheap motherboard one with a PCI express port for the x800GTO. Based on that AsRock K8NF4G-SATA 2 Socket 754 (40 pounds) seems right. With that a Sempron socket 3400 (80 pounds) or possibly 3100 (63 pounds) seems good for the board. Plus I have read reviews Sempron 3400 easily performs as well as an Athalon 64 3200 (priced at 104 pounds) And as for the Psu, Tagan TG480-U01 costing 60 pounds allows for both ATX 24 plus 8pin / 20 plus 4 pin connection.

Plus i have found a cpu cooler that might be interesting for the low noise. Vapochill Micro Ultra Low Noise http://www.guru3d.com/article/cooling/240/1/

What good 939 board do you recommend?? I dont think i checked the venice core, but i will have a look, thanks for that
