which Pentium4 or any type of Pentium processor is similiar in performance and can compare to my AMDXP 2600+ Barton w/33fsb & 512L2 cache??
the clock speed of the 2600 barton ...is 1.9173ghz
thanks.....

That's easy...another barton 2600+ sitting on the same motherboard using the same memory and hdd as yours.

Oops, you meant Intel didn't you...
Pentium 4 1,90Ghz on a similar motherboard with the same memory and hdd.Skip

Actually, that thing would likely kick Intels 2.0~2.2Gig P4 up and down the block. That should start something!
Skip

would these have...how much fsb?? because my friend compared a 2.4P4 with 400fsb to mine which is only 1.917 ghz///and 33fsb....is much faster for some reason ...y is that?

Hey wait...why not 2.6Ghz? isn't the whole idea behind the XP's PR rating to compare them to the P4? LOL!

Skip's just trying to be diplomatic...but he knows damn well the 2600+ will kick a 2.6Ghz P4's butt "up and down the block" (on a similar motherboard with the same memory and hdd)...LOL! Right Skip?

If only they came in the same pin/socket arrangement & could be compared on the exact same setup, like the old P1 & K6...then we would know undisputeable truth!

i wish to.....i still dont have the real truth on these cpu speeds and performance....who do i beleive lol

It's true...told ya I'd get something started here. Too much depends on how the rigs are configured. If you have a fast hard drive and your friend uses an old clunker, the difference will show up.It also seems AMD's "fastest chip" shows less of a difference than most of the slower ones. And if you want to believe SiSoft Sandra, my Duron1300 leaves a 1.6Ghz P4 in the dust. But, which one would you guys rather own?
Skip

sometimes i dont beleive SisoftSandra...i mean how do u really known it benchmarks correctly and shows accurate scores??? like with ur test Skip with the 1.6 P4 and ur duron....the P4 is better than ur duron in every way....i still dont get it lol

Personally, I think the 2400+, 2500+ and 2600+ chips did a dandy job of keeping Intel people up all night. Here's a list to stir up more talk.Athlon XP 3800+ Model 10 2500Mhz 400Mhz Barton
Athlon XP 3600+ Model 10 2400Mhz 400Mhz Barton
Athlon XP 3400+ Model 10 2300Mhz 400Mhz Barton
Athlon XP 3200+ Model 10 2200Mhz 400Mhz Barton
Athlon XP 3000+ Model 10 2100Mhz 400Mhz Barton
Athlon XP 3000+ Model 10 2167Mhz 333Mhz Barton
Athlon XP 2800+ Model 10 2083Mhz 333Mhz Barton
Athlon XP 2800+ Model 8 2250Mhz 333Mhz Thoroughbred-B
Athlon XP 2700+ Model 10 2167Mhz 333Mhz Barton
Athlon XP 2700+ Model 8 2167Mhz 333Mhz Thoroughbred-B
Athlon XP 2600+ Model 10 1917Mhz 333Mhz Barton
Athlon XP 2600+ Model 8 2083Mhz 333Mhz Thoroughbred-B
Athlon XP 2600+ Model 8 2133Mhz 266Mhz Thoroughbred-B
Athlon XP 2500+ Model 10 1833Mhz 333Mhz Barton
Athlon XP 2400+ Model 10 with 256kb L2 cache 2000Mhz 333Mhz Thorton
Athlon XP 2400+ Model 8 2000Mhz 266Mhz Thoroughbred-BI wouldn't hold my breath for the top three.

i never heard of 3600, or 3800 ...are they socketA processors??
or are they just variations of the the AMD 64?
i heard the 3200+ was the last amdXp processor that AMD is makin

I'd really like to have similar Intel rig (2.6Ghz) and start benchmarking at stock speeds, then start clocking both of them up to find a winner. I'd bet on the XP.BTW, I'd take the 1.6 Intel too...in a heartbeat.

That list was compiled from plans both Intel and AMD had. Some guy put it together in Excel. I'll see if I can find the link.I'm sure we'll never see any of those three from AMD.

Hey, how about me....
P4 2A clocked to 3.34 ghz. That's 1.34 Ghz overclock with stock air cooling. When teamed up with IS7, the dual channel memory kicks butt.

WTF! It's a thread from this fourm!Subject: .xls list of processors

Here's a url with a very comprehensive cpu listing for yall. It's updated often. If the first url doesn't load the second will guide you to the spreadsheet. Requires excel or excel reader.

And to supplement your list, heres a couple of Overclocking databases
http://www.sysopt.com/ocdatabase.htmlThis one lists motherboard, etc with overclocking results
http://www.cpudatabase.com/CPUdb/
~enjoy since these took a great many days to find.

Well, let's add a list of handy utilities.

I knew real_cool would get here...now we can really start.
Gotta say; that's one helluva nice rig.Skip

Thanks for the tip real_cool, I just signed up...I know you've mentioned the vent several times lately...I'm willing to give it a shot too.

I really like it. I was contacted to test their engineering samples back in May. Right now I have one in every systems I have (6 of them).
They won't have the clear one until next year. The darn thing is they sent me one and it looks great with LED light in it.
You guys know all my heatsinks are lapped and this darn thing gives me another 5 to 7 C lower. You won't believe me if I told you my XP1700+ at 1.8V is running 38 C idle and 45 C tops with a 3300 rpm quiet fan. If I don't do bench mark, I set it at 2200 rpm and never see 42 C.

with that lack of air flow in the case would u now start to overheat ur expensive video card??????

My case ventilation is not all lacking. I run good overclocking systems here with minimum 700 to 1.3 ghz overclock.
There are two 40 mm fans slots for the AGP card and NB cooling. Check Dansdata.com review on the same subject.

It's not like we already dont know this, but here's a interesting read. Its a few pages long but read the whole thing.I think it's something we all like to forget when we're
OC'ing. We like to think we're doing something amazing ,better than everybody else.but it's already there for us on a silver platter.http://www.overclockers.com/articles884/
PS. i'm not trying to offend anybody, please dont take what i said seriously. Its like a reminder.
Have a good one,macdaddy

If only we still had Kevn...
Going back to the topic, in theory, the reason why a 2600+ will perform as well or better than a 2.6GHz P4 is because the Athlons architecture allows it to do more per clock cycle than a P4. However, with the P4's new 800FSB and hyper threading, the Athlon has a hard time keeping up. Thats my two cents for this thread.

Overclocking is human nature.
If you like sports / fast car, you try get it run faster.
If you like motorcycle, you do the same.
If you are a computer geak, you like to make the CPU run at higher speed.
If you are dying, you don't care for much of anything ..... just to live "longer",
If you live longer, you want to brad about it not knowing it was "GOD" not you that made the mistake.

nice comparisons real_cool
lol.....i think my 2600 barton can outperform at 2.6 P4 in most cases....
