I am overclocking my geforce 4 ti 4200 128mb. To see howmuch i sould over clock i am overclocking in incraments, running a benchmark, and then comparing the results. The benchmark has 7 catigories: radom pixels, lines, circles, rectangles, text, flood fill, and draw. Which of these is most important for gaming?

If you really want to benchmark to see how well your card would be for gaming, I suggest that you just using 3DMark2001 SE. It will actually use its own "games" and set of tests to see how well your computer does. Although it does not truly represent real world gaming, it does seem much closer than the benchmark that you described. Just head over to futuremark.com and download the free version. Just hope that you have a fast connection or a lot of time to waste, the download is 40 mb. Hope this helps.

Then just turn off some of the tests that you don't want to run. Anyway, most of the tests that you described seems to test the 2D abilites and not really its 3D abilities. You can also try running a game in a demo loop and take a look at the fps counter. At least with a game or 3DMark, you can better tell its 3D performance.

You can run Unreal tournament 2003 and then open the UT console and type stat all great test shows all kinds of video info though FPS is about all I need at everything set ti maximum my ATI Radeon 9700 pro gets about 100+ per second wooot!!
Summary: imo cpu and vid card are approximately of equal importance for gaming. Your vid card is 30% faster than his but his cpu is 50% faster than yours so he's winning so far. You both have excess video mem...
Summary: I am wondering what is a better proccesor for gaming. Out of the two which are the AMD Athlon 64 3400+ / 512KB Cache / 1600MHz FSB / Socket 939 / Processor and the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ / 2MB Cach...
