Subject: Vocano 9 enough for Athlon XP2800?OS: Windows XPCPU/Ram: 512 MB PC3200 |
Comment: I just ordered an Athlon XP2800 Barton CPU. I would like to know if I can still use my Vocano 9 which says it can support up to Athlon XP2600. I think the 2600 was the fastest at the time the Vocano 9 heatsink was made. One more thing. what is the difference between retail and OEM. Isn't OEM without the heatsink? I ordered it from Newegg and the OEM costs $100 more than the retail. It doesn't make any sense.

Reply: (edit)the only differnece between Retail and OEM is one is boxed another one is not. Retail includes the manual, amd stock cpu fan, and sticker. OEM include nothing, only the CPU. And i don't think volcano 9 can handle amd athlon xp 2800+, becaue its designed for 2600+ under the max cpu fan speed. you should get a better one
