Vista computer keeps RUNNING out of memory...

Hi all,

After leaving my computer on for about a full day, the Memory Usage will skyrocket to about 90%. It's been liek this since the first day I bought it...and I'm tired of it. It's a HP Touchsmart 300 PC, with 4gb of ram. Vista 64 bit, I believe. Anyone else have this issue and would you guys like me to provide any information? Thanks.

Your issue is probably too many background programs running that HP thought you might want to have immediately available. You need to trim down what is started when Windows starts.
((By the way, this should have been posted under the Vista Forum))
Use msconfig (type in a run box, but if nec. the search box will probably find it for you also) and go to the Start tab. Look down the list of programs and uncheck everything except Microsoft and your antivirus programs (you can add some back later if you feel you need them), OK this and then restart the computer. This should help you a lot. If you are using Norton or McAfee antivirus, these also can drain your system resources, so I would recommend uninstalling and going with Avast or MS Security Essentials (both free AND better anyway). If you still have not tamed the machine, run Malwarebytes o make sure you do not have an infection. If you still are not satisfied, install Process Explorer (download from Microsoft) and get more detailed information on the running processes (Google as needed) and consider uninstalling anything they installed that you do not need or use.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
