So heres what happened. I dont know why I did this but I did....

Somehow I just decided to overclock my GeForce 4 MX 4000. 128 MB DDR 128 Bit
Its Default Clock settings were..
[ClockSpeed]-250 Mghz
[MemoryCore]-405 Mghz

Im not sure what I clocked my Clockspeed to but it was I think 3 hundred something.
And I set my Memory core to 515 Mghz.

I was just testing to see if I noticed a difference. Although I knew I probably wouldnt because the Card itself is AGP 8X and my MOBO only supports 4X and under.
[Card is obviously backwords compatible]

But anyway, it was after about 10 seconds, that my comp went crazy. Display was all disorted and you could barely read anything.

So obviously my comp isnt stable enough or cant handle clock settings such as those... I tried System Restore to see if that would reset the clock settings, Nothin. I re-installed my Display drivers, nothin.

But anyway, I tried rebooting because I chose the option of my clock settings going back to default after next windows start up. And I could only get into safe mode. Sadly, I could not underclock it in safe mode.

If I tried to boot Normal Mode, it would say System Protection Error. System Halted.
This tells me obviously that my comp cant handle my over clocked settings.

So I had to take it out, and stick in my Crappy old RAGE 128 PRO card. (that is what I'm using now)

Is the only solution to this problem being that I have to put it in a PC that can Handle it, clock it down, then stick it back in mine? Thats what Im thinkin.

did you do any research on overclocking your video card?

what you did was a serious overclock, especially on a LOW END video card...chances are, your card is screwed...

sounds like you made those changes in one big step...that's a no-no, you gotta take baby steps and ease your way up to it, testing for stability in between changes

Yeah, from what I saw....... It kinda looked screwed, meaning burned out. But, this may sound stupid and Noobish but, maybe it just over-heated? Needed time to cool?

I really dont know, Im gonna see how it goes, Put it back tomorrow, and check nVidia's Warranty policy..... With my luck, they will say something in fine print saying, All Modifications made to this Card that go corrupt is by fault of the user and No returns can be made. Or something like that.

I don't know why anyone would buy an MX4000 in the 1st place, let alone overclock one. I doubt your Rage Pro 128 is much of a downgrade...lol

You may not be able to recover. What program did you use to overclock?
