Hello:
I want to upgrade my graphic system on a HP Vectra VL400 Pentium III 1.00 Ghz. / 512 Mb, who has a motherboard chipset Intel 815. I want to upgrade to a AGP 128MB GEFORCE 2 FX5200 or similar.
Can you help me?
Thanks for the replies.

Since you do have an AGP slot in that system you should have no problems installing a card. Although I would go for a card like a 9550 instead, the FX5200 isnt really a great card. If the reason for the upgrade is because you want to play games definately dont go for the FX5200. The 9550 is pretty dang overclockable too. This is the cheapest 9550 I could find:

Make sure you get a 128 bit version no matter what you do.

Thank you Mattwizz3.

Should it be any problem of compatibility if the motherboard (chipset Intel 815) AGP slot is 2x and that card is AGP 4x or 8x?

Which card will give me the best performances?

Thank you again. ;)

I have another comp that has MS-6315 board (815E) chipset with 4X AGP slot. I put in a radeon 9200se without any problems so the 9550 will also work. The 815E chipset come with 4X AGP so if you buy a 8X AGP card, then it will run at 4X, but desipe the AGP speed, it makes minimal differences from 2-8x... When you are buying a video card like radeon 9550 or fx5200, just make sure it has L-shaped memory or else it will be 64bit (I-shaped).

Or you can even go for the 9600 Jetway too.

Yeah you should have no problem with AGP compatibility. I am currently running a 9250 on an old 440ZX board with AGP 2X, I have run the same card on a AGP 4X board too. Ussually if the card isnt compatible the card wont physically fit because there are 'keys' in the slot and graphics card.
