Comment:

i have an older system with a NVidia Ti4200 AGP video card. I was just given a new BFG 5500 OC but it's a PCI card(NOT PCI-E). Is this card better than the Ti or no?
Thanks.

NVidia Ti4200 was a very nice card for it's day. The nvidia FX 5500 was a decent card but not really anything to brag about. Your NVidia Ti4200 beleive it or not will out benchmark the FX 5500 that you got. It's pci for one thing, agp post better prefromance over agp plus the FX 5500 oc isn't the ultra version ontop of that either.

I forgot to add that PCI 5500 has 256 MB and the Ti 4200 only has 128... does that change the answer?
thanks

not really. Regardless of the amount of ram if it the pipline is small and bit rate small then isn't the amount of ram in the card isn't going to mean anything in terms of preformance.

That would be like having a Sempron 3400+ that has 2 gigs of ram vs a Athlon 64 3000+ that has 1 gig or ram. You will see a better preforamnce on the Athlon 64 3000+ with 1 gig of ram because it's a better processor even though the Sempron 3400+ is 200mhz faster and has a gig more ram. The bottleneck in the Sempron is it's 256k L2 cache vs the Athlon 64 512k L2 cache which is more suited for games.

That's like your 2 cards even though the 4200Ti is older and has less ram to it doesn't mean it's slower then the 5500. Unless the 5500 is the ultra edition then it has less pipelines then the Ti4200.
