I have a Dell GX260 CPU Pentium 4 running with Windows XP Professional and an InteL Grapgics R processor. I first had a very low resolution on my monitor. There was only a 4bit and could not change this. I mistakanely turned off the VGA Adaptor and now my PC doesn't desplay after booting. It desplays only when it's booting showing the OS which is Xp Professinal. After that, the screen becomes blank but the PC and monitor are both on.
I tried to boot in Safe mode but nothing is happening.
To start off, the reason you're stuck at 4-bit is because you need to install (or reinstall) the video drivers. Either they were never installed or they somehow became corrupted.
Are you saying you disabled the VGA in Device Manager? Are you able to boot into safe mode?

Hi Jam
Thanks. Yes I stoped the running of VGA in the Device Manager by error. When I restarted, the screen became blank. Yes I can boot in safe mode F8. It boots well and when booting completes, the screen is still blank just like in a normal boot.
I also trid to boot in safe mode, chose the option to switch on VGA but it still presents the same prob.
