Comment: Hey guys maybe my post on flashing my radeon pro wasnt much to talk about but check this out instead.Ive got my processor and video card rigged to run very cool at idle temps and also on a high load too.How i did it well i have a thermalright heatsink for my athlon xp 2400 and a rewired tornado 80mm fan set on low speed.Ive got a idle temp of 39C with no case fans on and case open.As for my video card i have the arctic cooling rev 3 but since it didnt work as well on my card i removed the fan and stuck a panaflo right on top of it.Now my temps for gpu is also 39C at idle temp.Ive got bga heatsinks on ram also so the temps is about the same.So is this low for non water cooling or what?

Reply: (edit)Your temps are good, but nothing to write home about...it's not like you uncovered the lost secret to cooling...lol For the most part, RAM heatsinks are unnecessary & a waste of money...& running with the side cover off should be a temporary thing only. IMO, water cooling is a waste of money...it's expensive, requires maintenance, & has the potential for disaster. And usually, the temps are no better than with good air cooling. Install a couple of case fans & put the cover back on. AMD recommends an intake fan in the front of the case, an exhaust fan just below the PSU, & the PSU should have dual fans, with the 2nd fan on the bottom, just above the CPU. http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_869_4348%5E1065,00.html

Reply: (edit)LoL Jam...!!! Watercooling is not a waste of money if you do it right.. Ive dabbled in both and in IMO water cooling is better... This does not mean i am ignoring the dangers and cost of watercooling and your right in one aspect... one drip and thats it lol ..!!! but if you know what you are doing then a good watercooling system is the way to go to get lower temps... My system (waterchill antarctica) reduced my temps by 15c and how many HSF are there out there that will keep a CPU with 2.0 Vcore going through it under 45c under load (tested by prime95 for 4 hours)....?.. ...............

Reply: (edit)My idle can get under 30c but thats by an open window and at night.Nightime ambient is 10/12c ish.Load is 38c with ambient at 15/18c. Winter is on the way which will give even lower temps and maybe a little extra headroom for oc'ing. Reply: (edit)My XP2600+ at 200x12.5 takes 1.725 Volt; but it takes hell a lot more to go another 100 to 125 mhz. Prime95 for hours and at 1.725 volt my temp never exceeded 45 neither; with easy air cooling and sub-3,000 rpm 80mm fan. I have two W/C systems also; may be 1 to 2C lower but not any quieter. If I have to get to 2V to get a few more mhz, I'd rather be a bit slower with no one will notice the difference.;)

Reply: (edit)"A good heat and fan are a waste of money to Jam" xXx-HotShot-xXx & I don't see eye to eye on HSFs...or temps for that matter. He feels temps in the 40s are totally unacceptable. I believe in getting the best bang for my buck. I can't see spending $50+ for a copper heatpipe or over $200 for watercooling, when I can get nearly as good results for under $15. Let me give a shameless plug to my HSF of choice, the Cooler Master aluminum w/copper base (model CP5-6J31C-01). Reply: (edit)Well i dont care much for water cooling either as i dont like mixing water with electricity.And also if you got fan speed controllers then that takes care of the noise.But then you need a decent size case to fit many watercooling systems and a couple hundred bucks for the good ones too.Not to say there aint cheap ones but i find my setup is just right and im happy.

Reply: (edit)Never meant to imply that you didn't jam. If people have got the cash and want to spend it that's cool. Tt Lanfire nf7-s v2.0 XP-m 2500@200x11 SP 97 1GB pc3200 Jou Jye 550w psu FX5600 WDCaviar 60gb Seagate Barracuda 80gb;~}

Reply: (edit)Very nice temps Guys... I Appreciate that air is "cheap" and you can get some nice temps but like i said in responce 4 .. "how many HSF are there out there that will keep a CPU with 2.0 Vcore going through it under 45c under load (tested by prime95 for 4 hours)....?.. " None....!!!! Watercooling is expensive, but if you have the money and its fitted correctly a good watercooling system speaks for itself...!! .........................
