Hi, I read up on adjusting v-core for system stability while over clocking. I found the setting in my bios to adjust it but when i save the bios settings and boot windows my voltage meter program says its running at the defalt 1.65...I want it to run at 1.75...any ideas for what i am doing wrong?

Thanks,Cody

Maybe your motherboard is "undervolting".
"undervolting" means that the Vcore is
always a step lower than the setting you
selected in the BIOS. For example:

Select 1.65V in the BIOS setup.

The Vcore value is actually 1.60V

or

Select 1.80V in the BIOS setup.

The Vcore value is actually 1.75V

------

I do own an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard
that does vice-versa, it overvolts.

When I select "1.70V" in the BIOS setup,
it's actually at least 1.75V.

I can get 1.90V by selecting "1.85V" in the
BIOS setup.

1st of all, check the voltage reading in the BIOS.

2nd, why such a big a jump in voltage? Is that the next step up or are you bypassing 1.675v, 1.70v, 1.725v?

3rd, I asked this in your other post but I'll ask it here too...is this an old socket 423 motherboard?

Asus A7N8X-X
1800+ @8x210mhz
512mb PC3200
Ti4200/8X 128mb
WDC 60GB

yes socket 423...such a big jump beacause i was not even neer my over clocking goal of 400mhz. The post above by Randy J. Anderson was right...my board was undervolting. Now I got it to run stable at 2.1 when the cpu is 1.7...so i think thats good. I cant go up any ore because my vcore is maxed out. i have it set to 1.85 but it only provides 1.75. My temps are fine and the sytem is stable so i think i will leave it here. ( i ran toast over night to test for stability)
