Upgrading Thinkpad T30 processor?

CPU/Ram: P4-M 1.6GHz / 512MB

I've got a Thinkpad T30 laptop with a P4-M 1.6GHz processor right now. Is it possible to upgrade it to a Pentium-M processor? Could I do it myself, or would I have to take it in to have it done professionally?

no, you cannot.

PENTIUM 4-M uses the 478 (i guess) pin socket (like the desktop version) and the PENTIUM-M (Centrino) uses a diferent one.

unless you upgrade the motherboard, of course.

but contact IBM costumers service for more information.
