Ok, I have the infamous AMD XP 2000+ for a processor but I want to know if and to what I can upgrade my processor to.
Base processor:
AMD Athlon (T) featuring QuantiSpeed Architecture
Advanced 266 MHz front side bus
Socket A
Chipset:
Via KM 266
Motherboard manufacturer:
First International Computer, Inc. (FIC)

Hope that's all that's needed.

Your HP "probably trigem" board has little to offer regarding upgrading, get a decent motherboard/CPU and build yourself a new rig.

you can put an athlon that runs at 133MHz core. That would mean you can upgrade to 2100,2200,2400 Athlons.

If your mobo allows overclocking (I doubt that since is a HP machine) you can comfortably increase your FSB to get your 2000+ working as a 2400+. I have o/c and played games at 150MHz core.
Need not buy another CPU.

Unless you do a lot of multimedia editing, heavy gaming you will NOT notice any differnece in system response. A Barton will be a higher upgrade and VFM if you can get a 2500 work as 3200. ofc you will need another board for that.
