If you have a ATX type case, you may find it cheaper in the long run to go with a new mobo/cpu/RAM combination.
If you are able to move up to a PIII cpu with your current board you will most likely end up buying a good used PIII and spending close to what a new but inexpensive motherboard would set you back.
You could also sell your current mobo/cpu/RAM and use the proceeds to offset the cost of the new stuff.
