Laptops rarely pay to upgrade processor. I am not sure but I think that the U series processors are integrated into the boards and are not socket plugged. If I am right then the only way to change the CPU would be to change the board completely. Easier to replace the laptop.
The only real upgrade for laptops is to max out the memory and swap out the hard drive for a fast SSD drive and possibly upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 10. If usable, sell it and replace it with something more suitable.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

As Fingers stated, swapping out a laptop CPU usually isn't cost effective. But if you insist on doing it, you should stick with the CPUs on the IBM spec list. The reason is that the IBM BIOS will likely only support the CPUs on the list. Be aware that if your laptop has Intel HD graphics, upgrading the CPU will not upgrade graphics. Your CPU has the HD5500, as does all the other CPUs listed.
