Hello, Last Year, I bought this barebones kit from MagicMicro.

I have this case:

It has an ASUS P5B-F Motherboard. Now, I am planning to upgrade the processor to a Quad Core Q6600 Processor. What will I need to do to perform this upgrade? Will my CPU fan still work with it or must I need a higher CPU fan? I am not sure what fan I got, but it came with my pentium d processor.

You'll have to update the BIOS before you install the quad...other than that, just make sure to get the retail CPU version & use the HSF that's packaged with it.

So, I upgraded my BIOS to 1601. Now, is the Q6600 uses a lot of heat?

Why 1601? Version 1702 adds the newest CPUs. Once that's done, all you'll need to do is install the Q6600 & it will be atuo-recognized & configured.

Why are you so concerned about heat? Are you buying an OEM CPU (no fan included) & you wanna reuse your old one?

I am getting the retail one. I also didn't go for the Version 1702 because isn't that beta?
